home built pro jacks.
I know at least a few here have built there own home made version of Pro Jack style lifts for race car.

Working on shopping list for parts.Design looks pretty simple to build. Have found few iutems on ebay that might work. Wondering what foot control you may have used and size cylinders in jack. Most I am finding seem to be over kill and same with their sizing.

Before everyone jumps in on using someone else's design > I am pretty sure when I get done I will have changed more than I have used.I always do.LOL

I've built ten sets. Most common cylinders are power team c55c. You can use some cheep crap but why. You're gonna blow a grand on parts then wonder why. Several people were issued cease letters from the patent holder. As far as pumps go you'll be hard pressed to beat PT or Enerpac. $$

thanks for info. Have not any letter. LOL

Just building myself a set and to my understanding if 10% change patent is useless.

Home built jacks are not projacks . Projacks is the trademark brand name for professionally built jacks .

No kidding. It was a reference as to style of jack I was asking about. But thinks for the disclaimer since mine are home built and not professional(meaning no money) then I am exempt from trademark crap.

I've known a couple guys to build they're own. everyone told me that by the time your done, you might as well buy them as the cost is nearly the same. I bought mine used for $1K, ready to plug air into and go.

Their patent ran out years ago. I'm sure they'll still send a letter just to see if they can make you stop, but it isn't worth the paper it's written on.

If you can find a used set then I agree at that price.

I have a friend that is one of the best fabricators on the planet and after pricing all the materials to build a set it wasn't worth the time. I own a set of Pro Jacks and in my opinion worth every penny

Don’t think that ones legit. In the comments it says it’s 1400 for the wall mount only

True. And if they are for personal use I don’t think they could do anything even if the patent was still active.

Wideopen231 good for you as to fabricating your own even if you got your inspirations from a picture or the actual object. You do not have to have a engineering degree or have YOUR GUY necessarily build it for you. If you have the skills and the patience why not. Im 64 and still will lay on my back with a TIG torch in my hand and working the foot pedal under the back of my knee to weld under the car. Good luck with you project.

You have never made something for yourself? Do you know the guy who owns Pro Jack?

I would concentrate on getting the car out to the track. I like to travel fairly light, where would you store them? How much of a pain are they to use? How much do they weigh? How big are they? How are they powered? Air? so you have to fire up generator then air compressor? When you start dragging them out, hooking them up and using them I think you may find they are more work than they are worth and just not needed.
I do not want to spend an hour out in the heat unloading and another loading up junk that just is not important in the big picture. When I get to the track I am not going there to work on it I am there to drive.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

To answer Curly question they are heck of lot easier to use than dragging a floor jack around.Lot quicker up and down with car not to mention lot more stable. They store standing up against wall and strapped in. I already know the part about pulling them out, have used them few hundred times just don't have a set.

I have never been to track that did not have good amount of time between runs especially early and I can't sit and look at car. As for generator it has to be running anyway if hot out so A/C will run. A small air compressor will power them no problem.Since I have 3 or 4 sitting around for the jobs thats covered.

Plus they are not just for track they are huge help in shop

SO stealing it and not advertising it would be fine?

I am not stealing anything. I am working harder to have something I want. I am not taking a dime out of his pocket since I would be buying them at this time. As most here know by now I enjoy building my stuff and for me its HUGE part of the enjoyment of a race car.Hell only reason I have Harley's is because when we quit racing I did not have anything to build or fabricate stuff for,so I bought a Harley.I then did complete rebuild on it about every other year or so. Since I started building car bikes have not been ridden 200 miles, just ask my wife. Reason I don't have money to hop them up more(fairly well hopped up now) and new blower would be $5000 for Harley.
