Present tire sounds like a good tire combination to me. Even the Hoosier 18245 or 18235 (both stiffwall) would be equally as good imho.

I love the PBR's & I think that's a good choice! While I haven't ran the Hoosier bracket radials, I think that would be a good choice also.

I ran the Hoosier 14.5W x 32 DO5 for years and went to the MT 3074 14 x 32 3074 and big improvement. More consistent, quicker 60 foot and et and it worked over wider temperature range. I also ran the 3974S with good results. Both of those were on a 1750 Lbs altered so with your door car may be a little different.

To directly answer your question though, 99.9% of the time, your car will want a stiff sidewall tire.

Some folks run tubes thinking it helps stiffen the sidewalls, or achieves the same effect??
I question that.

You mentioned footbraking, so be aware if you're trying to tune your R/T's, the radials are going to be quicker reacting.

I know a racer last year that went Hoosier 18247 and I could have bought those tires from him two weekends later for 30% of the list price. I attribute this to him not trying changes to the IC or AS to make them work properly.

My brother switched from the 18260 to the 18247 last season on his 6.0x (1.29 60’) SBC ‘67 Camaro and it was stupid good. It’s always transferred weight well and been a wheelie machine, but the 60’ tended to vary more than I would like.

He had engine problems on Day 3 of his only weekend out so it’s a small sample size, but the car was incredible.

3000-lbs, 1.38 60', 600 runs, on two sets of M/T 32-14-15 Stiff and the S10 prints tickets when they are new and when I take them off at about 300 runs. I still have the last set (just in case). Started a few years ago with Hoosier and just couldn't stop the occasional .01-.015 60' variance that would pop up.
Just my experience with M/T Stiff, all good.
