Sealing dragster fuel cell extension neck
I have a plastic fuel cell with a aluminum neck extension. Last year the seal between the two would weep a little. So this winter I took it out, and put a new rubber seal from summit on it. Used the backing plates. Leaks worse now than it did. Is there a sealant that I should consider with alcohol?

What size gallon size cell are you looking for?

I have a custom aluminum cell that was given to me out an altered. I won't ever use. Just has to be cleaned. Black anodized. I think it is a 3 gallon.

I believe the econo plastic cell I have is 4 gallon. I think 3 would be plenty. But It has to be pretty close to the shape/size of the plastic one. I have thought about using an aluminum one. Of course I would have to do some custom fittings in the right locations.

I will take some pics tomorrow at the shop. Just cover the freight. You can have it. I figure someone might put it to use. Mine is in back of the seat. 1.75 gallon

Ok if anyone runs into this, some of the bulkheads....I don't know what brand this one was.....aren't worth a damn. Maybe on a smooth aluminum tank it would be ok. Maybe. I found some gylon at work and cut by hand some washers out of it, and they tightened right up and no leaks. Gylon is expensive but pretty hard to beat for some applications.

So Gylon is a brand name PTFE? Did you use just pure Gylon/PTFE?

This one is a layer of ptfe sandwiched between two gylon layers. I believe the number on it is 3545. And it is spendy. Glad I was able to find a scrap.

You can also purchase Gylon in sheets of various sizes. It is used also in Semi tankers.AKA hazardous chemicals. Caustics and acids Etc.
