I seated the converter twice and with the converter drawn to the flexplate tang I get about 1/16" of an inch before it seats..Is something not right here.????Is this safe to run it.This message has been edited. Last edited by: JCDRAGS,

If your absolutely positive the converter is seated all the way in the trans then 1/16th is half of the 1/8 minimum clearance. No not run it!! .125-.180 is the clearance range you want

Just measured it more like 1/32" converter turns freely.

With that little clearance I THINK when you hit it the motor moves back and can take out your transmission pump and damage your thrust bearing. Your motor plates flex some and I think that .125-.180" clearance is to allow for that.

Flexplate orientated correctly? I like removing paint from flexplate crank mounting surface as well. Same with bolt face side.

If the converter is truly seated all the way into the trans it sounds like a mid-plate converter in a non mid-plate set up.
Nothing was said about if it is or not.

^^^^ On my .090 midplate converter the donut that fits into the back of the crank was lengthened. I believe this was the only difference from standard for me.
