So, when covid happened, I cut my car apart since work was talking about shutting down for 6 months. We didn't miss a day and it took me 4 years to put the car together due to various reasons. Most of all was just me being lazy. Well, I finally got the car out Saturday to make a few passes. The track was packed and after sitting around for 3 1/2 hours I finally got to make a run. I did a very light burnout on the new 29.5x10.5 PBRs. My Nova left with the front end in the air and a 1.380 60 ft. I made my fasted pass ever with this car even though it is 40 lbs heavier. (My wife asked if it was the car of me that gained 40 lbs.) It went 6.29 @ 107 with my little 370ci SBC at 3086 lbs., 9.95 @ 133 bouncing off the high side rev limiter. Didn't think it would touch 7800 rpm, but it did. Been awhile since I made a 1/4 mile run. MPH was down but I think I know why. I only made one run and left. I didn't feel like waiting another 3 hours for a send time run. Pretty happy considering its a new engine, new trans, rear was narrowed. And all the other new parts and paint we put on the car. 72 Nova "Hooptie"

Good Work. Of all the cars I have owned, 6.20's and 9.90's is my favorite speed. Fast enough to be fun and competitive, but not hard on parts. You can race anywhere any weekend. Car will fit a ton of classes.

Very Nice! Has the engine been on a dyno? If not, do you know what the cam's usable upper RPM range is? I'm wondering if a 4.56 gear would put you in the sweet spot. Dan "Jim" Moore Much too young to feel this damn old!!

Never had it on a dyno. I've run 4.56 gears forever in this and recently switched to 4.88s before cutting the car up. They put me @6800 in the 1/8 with the old 355. 72 Nova "Hooptie"

1.80 /4.88 seems to be the popular choice for 1/8 mile sbc from many that I’ve asked. Toms 1/8 mile numbers look Great given the engine size and car weight. Easily over 600 hp.

Trying to locate the cam card. Can't remember what we put in it. Getting old sucks, I used to remember everything about my car. 72 Nova "Hooptie"

I understand that... So do you normally just run 1/8 mile? Dan "Jim" Moore Much too young to feel this damn old!!

3 runs and had to pull the engine out. Found a bunch of metal in the filter. Number 2 main went up again. Clearance was perfect, crank was magged and polished, and block was all checked out. This is the 3rd time #2 has been scared up. Putting the (fresh) 355 back in it. 72 Nova "Hooptie"
