Figuring out my front drive accessories on a BB chevy and having some problems with an Aeromotive belt drive pump. I mocked it up with a BLP pump and ended up using a pulley on about the center of the mandrel. Outer pulley is vacuum pump, next in is alternator, then the pump. Problem is, the Aeromotive pump is thicker and hits the head before the pulleys line up, I cant move the pulley out anymore as it will screw up all the rest.

Does anyone make a offset 1/2" bore 1/2" wide gilmer pulley ??? I don't need much offset, probably 1/2" or so.

I spoke with Jones this morning and he say's he can take a 1" wide pulley and machine it down to get me about 1/4"-3/8" offset but that may not be enough

Any ideas ????

Thanks !!!

I had issues mounting all my pulleys. had a bunch of mandrel spacers which helped.

Outer pulley is vaccum pump. With how the pump mounts, it was the only position I could easily mount it. Middle pulley is fuel pump. Inner pulley is alternator and since I couldn't mount the alternator beside the block, I flipped it around and run it backwards.

Jones pulleys are the best they have a huge selection. If they do not have it I do not know what to tell you. Maybe check with Star?

Could you counter bore the face closest to the fuel pump to allow it to move back?

Possibly........... It looks like this pulley is a two piece press fit so that concerns me a bit, but yes, I do think I can counter sink the backside. It's got a lot of meat that rides on the shaft so that shouldn't be a concern.

Also ...... Great idea on mounting the alternator backwards, that would allow me to use the inner pulley for the alternator and move the belt drive crank pulley outward .

That being the case then if it were me I would press that out, bore the pulley to the ID it needs to be, then make the shaft piece as a flange mount and drill/tap the face of the pulley to mount it. I know it's easy for me to say since I run a machine shop. LOL

Are you trying to get the pulley on the red pump to come forward enough to be driven by the belt thats approx 2" in front of the red pumps pulley?
What if you bored the center of that pulley and pressed in a longer body that would let the pulley come forward but have plenty of hub to mount on the shaft?

Or can you remove the v-belt pulley down on the crank that almost lines up with it? Remove the v-belt pulley and install a Gilmer pulley tp match the red pump.

The pulley on the red pump needs to move back towards the block to align with the small gilmer pulley. The outer pulley on the mandrel is vacuum pump, next inward is going to be alternator, then gilmer for fuel pump, then a pulley I cant really use for anything up againt the balancer lol

I'd love to use my typical Powermaster low mount alternator set-up but it doesn't clear the steering box in this truck so I'm stuck putting the alternator on the passenger side.

I also need to keep the fuel pump forward a bit so It doesn't hit the vacuum pump bracket and allows full range of motion for adjustment. The aeromotive pump has a slick mounting bracket that allows it to move in or out more than a inch and if I used a different vacuum pump mount It would line up fine. But probably create other problems.

If I can mount the alternator backwards, that will make things waaaay easier, but I don't see that happening.

I'll get some better pics, going out there to play shortly ……….

Thanks !!!

Can you move the alternator pulley rearward on the crank/mandrel and put a Gilmer pulley in it's place. Might be easier to re-position the alternator then move the fuel pump....

Okay can’t tell from picture but could you just move pump out or flip pulley around and drive pump off same pulley as vacuum pump

Thanks for all the replies guy !!!

I ended up machining 5/16" off the back side of the Aeromotive. Still plenty of meat on the pulley and everybody lines up nice.

Any other image hosting sights, I'm not having any luck with Imgur, I signed up and now I cant do anything lol
