starter of choice

wideopen231starter of choice
So what are you guys using for starter? Guess ready or not I am buying new one. 139 tooth flywheel. Checked House of payne seems they are out of everything except their biggest which looks like a fitment issue , hitting block on the inside of the starter. It is left side mounted.
I thought it was a problem a while back, but found ground to be issue. Now hanging, grinding and sounds like shyt. Then I knew it needed replaced just wasn't ready to do yet. Don;t have to have the biggest but probably his big little brother.

Curly1I use the Powermaster ultra torque? Any way it is best one I have found. I do highly recommend the 139 tooth flexplate for Chevys.

WHOMPWHOMPThe NEW BILLET CSR starter is the best I’ve used an I’ve tried um all…..but it’s $600….

1320racerCSR= JUNK with no company support.
I too have tried them all and ran Tilton Super starters for over 3 decades, the original mini race starter. Since switching to 139 tooth flywheel about 3 years ago, I now run House of Payne’s Ultimate Big Dawg in the dragster and Big Dawg in the Firebird.

1320racerCSR aka CSI is probably the worst aftermarket automotive performance company I have ever dealt with and many racers would agree as well they have stiffed many on contingency payments not to mention their water pumps are junk too and replacement motors haven't been available from them for years, long before covid too.

Lenny5160I've never owned a CSI/CSR product, but I'm stunned to read that they have a new product. I thought they vanished several years ago.

I have one of their powerglide full shields that is brand new and has never been on a car but the cert has run out. I contacted them about getting it re-certed and they got back to me right away, so I would guess they are still there.

Big SteveCertainly nothing wrong with the 139 tooth Meziere but I love my HOP Ultimate big dawg even more.

wideopen231would like to go with big dawg, especially with all of recommendations. Like I said I am almost positive it will not fit in space.
It is hemi setup and starter is on left side mounted in cut out at back of block.Kind of like stock location, except I had to cut block for it and make the mounting block. Will have to make next mounting block, but hoping this will will adapt over. If not nothing new. How do people run car w/o a milling machine and lathe?
Another issue is availability and one HOP big dawg in stock.
Right now engine is pretty easy to spin.New rods .020 shorter and cost me .57:1 compression. Would like to buy for future combo which is 60 CI bigger with 15:1 instead of 11.8. So buying bigger agins better. wONDER IF THEY HAVE ISSUE IF BUY hop bIG Dawg and if does not fit enchange it for one step down? Might have to give them a call and see if that possible.
