Well, it's that time of the year again where we all try to make our junk run better, be more consistent, and hopefully more durable. However when making a purchase as big as cylinder heads most of us have a lot of questions that are sometimes complicated to answer. That's where I'd like to be able to help. What questions do you have about cylinder heads? Mike@FrankensteinED.net

just for grins as you say ,what is the head of choice for a 598 conventional head ,to make 1200 hp.i know this is real broad.just give me some thoughts honesty is the best policy, insanity is a better deffense 1.036, 6.16@ 224

Whell there's two types of 1,200 hp. You want 4.30 1,200hp or 4.70 1,200hp cause they ain't the same thing? Mike@FrankensteinED.net

Go to a 615", good SR20's, heavily ported EDL-2897 or M&M Intake. You oughta know the rest. Mike@FrankensteinED.net

It can be done a couple different ways, but that's the easiest as far as getting parts. We've done a few AFR Magnum 18's here for 500" Truck Pulling stuff that makes just under 1,050. I'm ready to see 'em on a 615" and see what they do as they show more promise than our SR20 program. Mike@FrankensteinED.net

Who’s gone 4.30 with 1200?? Or a sr20 615 going 4.30?? I’ve seen some fast sr20’s but not sure I’ve seen one go 4.30

Well beings it’s free, What’s a good head for a 548 ? I have Brodix BB2X Cnc ported by M2 right now but the heads need gone over and may just replace them. It does run good as is being 5.21 at 2600 lbs in 1/8 mile.

An honest 1225HP at 1835 lbs goes 4.30 flat at 161+, 632CID Pro20 Dart heads, Eddy cast intake, big bubbas and 4.10 gears, little bubbas and 4.30 gears would be about .04 faster. Mid summer heat equal mid to high 30's.

They both have Pro's and cons! The bottom line is simple, how much power do you want to make? Answer that and the rest is easy.

Alright Shabs, I keep seeing people talk about square port vs oval port for alcohol on BBC's.. What head would you chose if building a 615-632 to run alky in a 1950lb dragster, wanting to run 4.50's in 2500' of air at 1100' elevation? To me, I would think this is where the Brodix Headhunter 383 or something like the Profiler 375 shine.. But is something like the BB3 380 Rec. port a better option? That's badass and very impressive. There are a few 632 and 648 20 degree deals that fly, just doesn't seem like a big group of them though. I've had a 615 that made 1198 and it was never going a 4.30, high 30 maybe, but that's a long way from a 30 to me anyway.
