United trailer 16” upgrade?
Has anyone upgraded to 16” rims and tires on a 28’ United trailer or similar? It’s time for tires on my trailer and before I buy trying to decide if I should go 16” and what all would be involved/pros and cons to the change

28’ trailer, 3400 car, 7000 onan, golf cart, scooter, loaded tool box, miscellaneous parts, 35 gallons of fuel.

If you are wanting higher load capacity you can get up to 14 ply tires for 15 inch wheels.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I changed over years ago and it was the best thing I ever did to my trailer. The selection of tires in 16" are endless and wear forever. On my 28' trailer, I use 215/85R16 or have used 225/75R16. either one you use will have ample clearance. I don't think 235/85 will fit in the fender wells.

As long as you have torsion axles, you're good. I had 215/16's on mine, with no issues rubbing. 5 yrs worth. 10 ply LT tires, is the way to go.

You have to put in the effort, to get anything out of it.

I've got 16"s on my Pace 28'. Only thing is the trailer sits higher than most if that's a problem loading. I buy already mounted tires with steel wheels and sell my old ones every few years. Easy to sell the 16's to horse and cattle trailer guys.

I did it on my old Vintage and put Firestone LT tires on. No more issues. Found the wheels on Ebay, got the tires locally.

Thanks guys, so how much aprox does it raise the trailer? Also, what is the size to go with and with the 16’s what load range. I will be going good year endurance.
