Larry WoodfinChem Source Methanol
I am seeing and hearing about Chem Source Methanol. The claim is consistent between batches and controlled corrosion. Does anyone posting here have any experience with this company?

pauleyI know quite a few people around here that are using it Larry. They all swear by it. say it is a little more consistent and very clean.
The guys name is Chris Mitchell 336-707-4271
I spoke with him about getting some towards the end of the year but I really didnt need much to get me through. He is extremely nice and will ship. he said the shiping charges by the pallet so it would be better to get 4 drums. give him a call like i said he was super nice.
ep-i think i will get 4 drums from him at the beginning of the year. the price is not that much higher than recycled alcohol. if i am not mistaken he uses virgin alcohol.

SP 124XChris is a great guy with a great product. We ran and sold Chem Source Racing Methanol all season. Our three cars ran extremely well and I was amazed how clean the carburetors are. We sold a fair amount as well all with great feedback.
ep-his methanol is first run and always in new drums.

IMO, it depends on who's sale pitch you want to believe! Cost will probably be the only difference.

No sales pitch here. My carburetors are considerably cleaner, less moisture in my vacuum pump can, cleaner oil and although we never analyzed weather vs ET changes our cars but they were very predictable. I'll be 100% honest I've probably had less than 10 drums of sealed VP M1 in the last 10 years. Primarily we ran methanol that was in reused/refilled plastic drums and I'm not sure if it was virgin or reclaimed but the price was right and available was decent.

I really have no skin in the game of methanol recently & I ran M1.
Reading your reply, IMO you don't have a very good comparison of Chem Source to M1. What you do have is a good comparison of Chem Source & methanal in reused/refilled plastic drums that you don't know if it was virgin or reclaimed.
I take M1's 99.95 % minimum purity at face value & would do the same for Chem Source. IMO, they/we are splitting hairs between the two fuels.

Lenny5160I've never seen the logic in paying a premium for any brand of methanol. It's a chemical with a specific formula. I've run drums from chemical companies and race fuel suppliers with no difference. It only matters that it is clean and pure.
With that said, I'd never heard of Chem Source prior to this thread but the pricing does not seem out of line at all considering the fact that they only use brand new drums and there are a lot of good reports from users.

markemarkI agree with Lenny and Kings posts.
I purchase methanol from the Fuse Fuels distributor 20 minutes from my house for $190 a drum and add a qt bottle of Klotz Uplon. My EFI fuel system has methanol in it all race season and I switch it over to pump gas for the winter. The injectors, pump and regulator don’t get removed. In spring I switch it back to methanol.
I removed the EFI injectors (first time) that were installed 5 yrs ago last fall, sent them back to FIC and paid extra for testing prior to cleaning. Here’s the results
