Question about engine puffing of smoke at the top end
I recently saw a video of my car at Cordova last weekend and I could see one of two puffs of smoke from the exhaust as the car neared 1000 foot. I can't feel anything wrong but just wondered if anyone had experience with this phenomenon.

We were running quarter mile on a track that doesn't run many higher-powered cars past the 1/8th mile. Track after the 1/8th wasn't great, and I had tire spin, on and off, for the last 660 feet. I am trying to figure out if it spun the tires then grabbed if that could be the cause.

638 cubic inch in a dragster. The previous weekend at Earlville, Iowa it ran 187 mph, but last weekend it was lucky to run 182.

No data logger? Would show spikes in rpm amd should show on graph. Not to be smart butt but very few dragster even big inch will smoke tires on top end. If so should feel very easy. I would be check rings wioth leak down and iv have valve seals could be sucking oil especially if lifting. If Oil shopilc show in pipes too.

Take a look at your spark plugs.

I have noticed this also on good running motors, not sure what is causing it though. What heads are you running?

don very likely a misfire and possibly from the crank trigger.one in our group did this at indy.changed trigger fixed it.in msd grid download data acquisition at top of page, then open ign in and ign out.in both should be solid no gaps
