Steve H.33/10.5-16 On Back Halved Car?
Does anyone run 33/10.5 tires on 16” wheels on a back halved bracket door car? Dimensionally they look like they would be similar in size to a 14” wide tire on a 15x14 wheel but taller. Engine is a 750 hp small block and it will have a 1.80 first gear powerglide. Any real world advice would be appreciated.

SP 124XI had really good luck with 33x10.5-15 on our door car going 5.90s/9.20s.

Starting from scratch on rear gear so it could be anything. Car will only be raced 1/8 mile, I am thinking 5.00?

How about more information. You wrote 750 hp. Small block size? Gas or methanol? Guestimate car weight with driver. Ladder bar or 4 link? ET goal/s? Launch wheels up with a wheelie bar?

It is a newly built 427 small block with head hunter heads on gas, estimated 3,000 lbs with driver, 3rd gen Camaro, ladder bars, no wheelie bars and would prefer to keep the wheels mostly down, no hard ET goals (just to be consistent).
Part of reason we are considering this tire is I have spare sets of 16x16 wheels, if the 16 inch wheel doesn’t make sense what 14 x 32 tire is recommended?

329LThe 16 x 16 wheel creates a stiffer side wall because the side wall is shorter. I personally think its a great idea. If the rollout is 106ish, dont be suprised if you need a 5.43 gear to turn it through the lights tho. Also, with a stiffer tire and wheel combo like you have, it will take more gear and more aggressive launches, and not take the tires out as fast.

I understand wanting to use what one has and you could make tire combinations work given the rear gear. With that 16” tire I’d say 5.29 min or possibly even 5.43 as another wrote if wanting 7000+ rpm 1/8 mile. Look what a 1.80/ 5.43 gear does to the slr as you indicated no bars.
The sb combination I see much of is 1.80 /4.86 with 32x14. Some have/ need wheelie bars depending. My 3rd gen uses a 32x14 with 1.56/ 5.14 and I gladly give up as much as .08 in 60’ with that slr.
