These were discussed at my engine builders a couple of days ago. Are they worth while or not? The general consensus was that they can be.

The one I watched last night concerned carb spacers. Open hole spacers vs. 4 hole spacers on both Dart SBC single plane and dual plane manifolds. In this particular video, the spacers really had no significant effect on power beyond the open spacer contributing to better fuel distribution on the dual plane.

So what do you think?

I do not think a Dual plane is good for our needs anyway and a spacer is just a crutch to help it.

Many of the "articles" in car magazines etc. are written by sales people trying to sell stuff and disguise it as a Tech article.

So watch them or read the articles you may learn something but take it with a grain of salt and not as Gospel.

It is the same with some political Surveys, they can often manipulate the answers some by how they ask the question or who they paid to get desired results.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Love their videos and the TV show is pretty good. Just another tool and got to use tools properly .

As for magizine articles. I remember adding all the bolt on power things once. I think I could gain 80 hp w/o opening engine except new intake. if I did them all. That was on street 350. LMAO

They pretty much admitted that spacer on a dual plane was a crutch. They were seeing miniscule gains in power. Less than 1% I think. Not enough to worry about.

An enthusiast magazine writer once told me that all "hot rod" editorial content was driven by advertising revenue.
