If it is pure methanol does not matter the label on the outside. I use Sunoco because it is cheaper and I get good service and free delivery from my local rep.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I went from a local supplier and it was in his painted drums to Renegade on the same day and it ran the same.

I have also ran VP on the same day as the no name brand and zero difference.

I run Renegade now just because a friend sells it and it helps him keep up volume. If he didn't discount it to me I would be running the no name and would never know a difference.

Sunoco does not make Methanol, Lone Star super gas in Kilgore just fills drums and puts the Sunoco label on it and Warren sells it.

But like you said the label does not matter, if its pure, methanol is methanol

There is zero reason to pay a premium for methanol other than the couple exotic VP blends.

Regular M1 is the same as stuff you can get at a chemical warehouse, as long as it’s clean. Junior dragsters and Top Alcohol machines, all running the same stuff.

I purchase Methanol from my local Fuel Oil dealer (Cory Oil) and their House brand is “Fuse Performance Fuels”. Always priced fair in the market and never a problem. I spend the money I save on a quart bottle of Klotz Uplon that I add to every drum when I pick it up.

They also sell Renegade. I won’t waste my money on this.

My last drum purchase in September was $172.37 with 5% tax included. No drum deposit.

Agree with all the above. The old saying about "Paying extra for the label" has never been more true than with VP M1. Maybe not all VP dealers, but some charge 3-4X the price for the exact same product you can get elsewhere. No difference in performance, same day tested against "Sunoco" branded methanol that was 1/3 of the price.

VP is around $240 here and Renegade is $200.....I can get it in an unmarked drum for $150 toplube included cash with no drum deposit.

Big difference in prices for the same stuff

My friend running an Enderle mechanical injection wouldn't use anything but VP because of trash in the bargain brands. Moisture can be an issue.

VP was preferred for track use with traction compounds because it was more dry.

99.9% methanol is all the same just diffrent labels, now "recycled" is a diffrent story. But right now it usually goes up for the winter because of airports using it as a major ingredient of de-icer just like the winter washer fluids for cars and trucks.

As a few have stated here already, pure methanol in BRAND NEW drums is exactly the same no matter whose name is on the outside. My business sells it by the sealed drum here in Fort Myers.
Local VP dealer here tries to sell drums of VP meth for 580.00 a drum. I'm at 200 plus tax & outsell him all day long.

What biz are you? My buddy is moving to that area shortly and will need a source for methanol that's not $6-8 a gallon like they charge at the track. Last place I got it from when I was down there was Palmdale Oil Company, selling Renegade methanol for $227 a barrel. I had a bit of controversy when I got the first barrel from them, as they wanted $250 a barrel. The Renegade rep saw a thread on YB that I posted and called them to give me the different pricing.......

Is it possible to pay more than VP methanol? Never seen any real data showing one brand is better or worse, less the cost. The exception being contaminated drums from some. Always check the quality before using. Flashlight look in drum and water content with tester

I’m paying 170 a drum for VP. But I’ve seen no difference in the private label vs the vp
