I switched to full synthetic oil for 2024 in my sbc race engine and chose Maxima RS. I had used Brad Penn and Schaeffers prior, and had bought much on sale and even mixed the two when I went 10w30 using up what I had to the end last year. I purchased 9 gallons of Maxima RS during a sale last winter to try.

I sent out an oil sample of the Maxima RS 10w30 just to see what’s in the oil after 50+ runs and compare it to what I used prior because I’m curious. It appears Maxima has more Moly and Boron compared to what I used prior. The Copper is coming from the distributor drive gear.

This isn’t about what’s better oil, but thought one might be interested in results of 3 brands I’ve used after 50+ runs. I used Blackstone for the $35 oil report, and it took 17 business days after they received the sample to get the e-mail results.

My sons ran Maxima oil in their SB Chevy circle track car then in their Top Dragster (alky) and their Top Sportsman (gas) cars.
