Anybody mount their lights off the front 4 bolt caps that hold the kingpin in.

Yes, I made mounts that match that pattern then had extra material off to one side to mount the lights on. They just replaced the original caps. I still have the program somewhere. Made them for a good friend of mine.

I don't have any pics of the parts on the car and he sold the car many years ago. Here is a pic from my CAM software that shows what they looked like. Just picture them in aluminum though. LOL

With the lights turning with the front wheels how well did it work? I ended up mounting mine on front A-Arms.

Bruce it worked well. It lit up where you were going instead of just in front of the car like most lights do.

I was thinking about mounting mine there but decided to mount them on a-arms. One of the things I think is minor is as it turns it would point down some because the kingpins are angled back a few degrees.

I drove the car a few times when they were on there and you don't ever really notice that. I bent the section that the light mounts to so they sit flat when the wheels are straight. It's one of those things that even without lights you get around fine so having them is better than not. And if they aren't as efficient all the time as when the wheels are straight it isn't a big deal because it is such a short time.

Some of the races we have raced at, the pit traffic after dark can be so crazy that it's almost as important to be seen as it is being able to see. Without lights on your car you're almost invisible in some low or no lighting situations...

These are the lights I bought and I really like them. They put out quite a bit of light, were not expensive and seem well built.

Thanks Curtis. The wiring will have to be secured a little differently with it moving when steering, but looks like a clean install and a solid mounting spot instead of the body

i was going to go with kingpin mount but went between a arms instead. Moving in direction of tires was one reason I thought about doing it. As matter of fact there was movie about guy building a car that had lights going in directions you steered. I think it was early 50's.Movie is why I thought about it.

I used cpl Harley turn signals off bike.I have cpl sets hanging around always removed them anyway and never throw things away.
