Grab 2 more off the shelf and they have the exact same thing going on.
Of course phone calls to hoosier unanswered chirp, chirp.
This customer wants to go racing this weekend.Im not recommending he run em.

Should have never been accepted off the delivery truck. Do the right thing, look up the closest Mickey Thompson dealer and go over there and get him the tires that winners use.

Mickey's. The TD and TS bracket cars run them in an overwhelming majority. You'll never look back once on Mickey's.

No good. Do not run these brand new "fresh off the truck" Hoosiers.

The molded in Serial number shows the date of manufacture. Last 4 numbers is week and year. I just bought a pair of M/T’s and they are 38 and 39 17. I had to send another one back that was only a month old but was a poor match on circumference. I took off a set that was 4+ years old and nothing wrong with them. Just wanted some fresher tires.

Ran the 18170's for many years, (switched to the 18150 last year) never once looked at the wear holes for cracks before I put them on.

I've never gotten an old set that's been laying around from Hoosier Mid-Atlantic. Always had great customer service from Roy. Give him a call and talk to him about this.

I would NEVER run a MT bias ply slick instead of the Hoosiers on my car. Not dealing with tires that go flat during the week or tubes. I am thinking of running a PBR when my current tires need to be replaced though. Might want to consider this as an option for your customer.

I'm only running 106 in the 1/8, 132 in the quarter, not 160 like your customer. Can't imagine going that fast on this little tire.

Never ever question your life on tires period.
These tires (No names) were defective from inception. That there are the actual steel cord windings of the bead construction that have separated>> 12 Runs. Sent pics into them. They did nothing but scrapped the tires. Talking about a total waist of 600 plus. I was beside myself. It was one of those "O Well moments" from them.

steve at hoosier finally responded
he stated whats happened is called pin drag
when the machine punches the depth holes sometimes the pin does not pull out completely and causes that because the tire is not fully cured
he said run them they are safe and if they chunk he will replace them

I remember a day when you could find "blem" tires at a reduced cost, they had cosmetic issues not related to safety of the tire.

These would fall into that category

I was thinking the same thing. I used to get @ 56 runs before the side walls gave out running mid-10's.

I would have never let them off the trailer. You took inventory of what on the outside looks like a bad tire, and accepted there explanation. If something happens with those tires it's on YOU until those tires are retired. Sleep well tonight, you accepted payment and a general explanation of an obviously flawed product. On a side note, how much did you make on the sale of those tires? Is it worth it?

I'm glad you are an expert on tire construction. Faron would not give it his blessing if he didn't know it was a common and safe, cosmetic flaw. The customer had already decided to run them regardless.

in a way you are correct.problem is in 20 years of mounting hoosier I had never seen that before.this size tire comes crushed so its flat as a pancake.and its hard to see the marks until they are aired up.then its really evident.

we actually had the customer call steve at hoosier for his own peace of mind to hear their explanation.
but who knows you can get sued for anything nowadays

Mike, you did the right thing and asked and so did the customer, move on. Besides, those tires will be on the junk pile in 11 more passes, maybe sooner and the wear holes will be the same depth they are.
