1997 F350 Powersroke A/C help needed.
I was just cruising down the road with my ac on, it was blowing cold air working really good. All of a sudden it was blowing hot air. As I got to investigating it I found that the compressor clutch is not cycling on and off. It won’t charge me on at all. I tried using contact cleaner to clean the two electrical connections on the compressor and no help!

Does anyone know what the problem might be and how to fix it?

could be the pressure switch or cycle switch, usually near accumalator.check volts at clutch plug.

Most common problem on a Ford is worn compressor clutch and too much air gap. I don't remember the exact spec but it is adjustable, do the google. The 5/16 (8mm) bolt in the center holds the clutch plate and it slides right off. BE CAREFUL as there are shims in the plate that go between the shaft and the clutch plate and that's how you adjust the gap, the 5/16 bolt goes through the shims, just small washers.
Quick hack is with the truck running and AC on tap the clutch plate with the handle of a hammer, just tap it enough to close the gap. If the clutch engages tighten the gap.

Could be compressor clutch...check for power at the connector. if you have power and ground, your clutch MIGHT be able to be shimmed (or remove a shim).

If no power at the clutch, unplug the HPCO switch, run a jumper between the two pins of the plug (not the switch, the connector on the harness). If the clutch comes on, either you have a leak (lost all the refrigerant) or your HPCO switch has failed. If it doesn't come on, check fuses...I've seen them loose in the fuse box on the OBS Ford's.

Also other possibilities too but those are the most common.
