I have always set up my cars for 1/4 mile but most all races around here are 1/8 mile now. My thinking is if it is set up for 1/4 mile it I can run anywhere anytime. Plus with a lot of gear ratio for 1/8 mile only may put car on edge in the 60 foot. I like it conservative and consistent and it allows me to run 1/4 if I want.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

That's very similar to the Firebird

I ran it last week and it went 1.50 deep staged 6.37 @ 110. It usually goes 111/112 ish but it was 100 degrees lol

What rpm you go through at ???

My car was set up for 1/8 mile when we put it together...1.80 glide with 5:13's in a Dana 60...I decided to try 4:30 gears so I could run the 1/4 mile...it was a disaster since the car did not make enough power for that gear and I could not hit the tree worth a darn...I went back to the 5:13's after two weeks...

I run a mild, pump gas 496 in a 3240 lb. car with 14/32's out back and me in it...the motor is not made to turn high rpm's...I looked at my schedule and realized I would only be entering two 1/4 mile events a year, if that...down here all decent money events are 1/8 mile...

I go through the 1/8 traps at about 6400 rpm...I launch at 3600 off the button and 3000 off the foot...my short times are 1.40 to 1.42 depending on the weather...

I only run 1/8 in the Cobalt. I have 4.87 gear, 1.80 low, 33.5" tires, I hit 7800 twice on every pass with 1.06-.08 60's. The 4.87 gear change from a 4.10 was worth .10.

You're down around 0-3% as well, depending on tire growth and mph above 171 mph + -.

PTC converter a friend had in his attic 10 years, I called Kenny at PTC with part#, he said it's a hard hit Pro Tree converter, he nailed it. I lowered the leave rpm 400 went 1.28 60 ft sounded like the windshield broke when it left. It slips 13% 1/8 which is quite a bit of difference in finish line rpm in comparison to the Transmission Specialties spragless on the right that has been 1.27 60ft dipped in the 5's n/a sbc 3250 pds, slips 7%. I wouldn't sell either one of these converters. The PTC is a active stator converter with a Borg Warner sprag.

If the 4.30 killed your ET then I think your converter was too tight.

The shift is initiated at 6925 and completed at 7025. The maximum engine HP on the dyno was at 7200.

If peak power on dyno was at 7200 RPM why are you shifting at 6900-7000?

My peak is 7400 and I shift at 7600.

I have a Hail Mary button on the steering wheel that when depressed allows the shift to be activated at 7200 instead of 6925 and will reduce the ET by .01 - .015 in the 1/8.

You are dead on with a zero, curly...it was too tight...I could not stage off the foot higher than 2400 rpm...I had it loosened up twice so I can now leave at 3200 off the foot brake...my car loves the 5:13's though...lol...my power peaks at 6400 and my shift is set at 6600...
