Jeff, I'm really glad to hear you're getting headed back to the track soon. Really hate hearing about someone's misfortune such what you had. I'm sure it is a lot of hard work.

On another note your screen name just sunk in this morning. Hopefully you can see some humor in it.

Curtis

Curtis,

Actually he had the Smokinjeff moniker before this happened. Unfortunately it came true. Anybody that knows him will tell you he'll recover from this and come out better than ever.

Yeah I knew he had been around a long time as Smokinjeff. Just didn't really think about it when he started this thread. I really do wish him well.

Humor is my pain relief. I've had worse things happen in my life so this I can handle. I always try to look at things as they could always be worse. Wife said maybe it happened so as to make others not make same mistake as me. I am going to keep plastic caps on batteries and put them in a secure place. May buy some marine battery boxes to store them in. Going to try and crank it up hopefully by Monday. Can't let my friends have all the fun.

I had to bring this thread back up. Not only did Jeff get the car fixed already, he went back to Amarillo and won the money again. You’re my hero bud! Not worthy

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

Thanks guys. Took me alot of hours to get car back to race mode. 5 hours on carb alone. Still finding things wrong. Alternator and charger went out at the races. If not for a buddy loaning me his charger I would have been done. What I was most proud of when on 2 occasions I was asked if I got a new car. It was a expensive horrible mess but getting close to being back to 100 percent if there is such a thing.

Farmer,

You better have all that hay baled and those tractors fixed by the 18th of August. I'm expecting to see you racing in Roswell that weekend. Remember, you have a place to stay if you need it. My house or Pivotdoc's, doesn't matter.

And as always, good luck unless you're racing me. Full Moon

Wow Jeff, I just seen this.. Glad everything is back to "semi" normal..

I put a cheep set of backup cameras in and on my trailer so I could monitor things. Rear view helps when passing cars as you can actually see if you have cleared them before changing lanes, one inside allows me to see everything in cargo area while cruising down the road..

Hey Dave, I would like to hear about the camera setup you've got. And does the one inside the trailer have any type of illumination? Or is the light through your roof hatches enough to be able to see in there? Thanks.

I have been told the wireless baby monitors work well from the cab of the MH or truck back to the trailer...sound and video.

May have to go to Wal-Mart to try one out.

Dan,

Here is what I bought. I contacted the seller to add more cable. They are infrared so they work even at night.
I thought about a wireless unit but was discouraged by some reviews that they didn't work well at distance and through metal.

Camera set up

Chris, I thought about a wireless set up but reviews at the time said they didn't work well through metal at a distance.

Vern I had signed up for the Ardmore races and shoot outs along time back. I hate that it is on the same weekend as the Roswell race. But that race is going to make up my mind if I should go on a Racecation in October in the east. Some big races out that way. Always wanted to go to the million in Montgomery. Huntsville warm up is before that and Super Bowl race at rockingham before that. So since I lost all my crops this year this is the only time in my life I will have a chance to go do that much racing. I spent alot recovering from fire so need to hit one in Ardmore. If not fishing sounds fun. HaHa
Dave those cameras looked like a great idea. Cable routing might take some thought. Thanks for the suggestion.

Jeff,

Cable routing was pretty straight forward.. Pretty much like running wiring for trailer lights.. Monitor allows you to switch cameras.

Jeff,

I understand, you gotta do what’s right for you. Sorry about your crops, that sucks.

I’ll run the Lindsey race, then leave right away for Salt Lake, then maybe Great Bend and for sure the National in Ennis. That should finish me up for the year.

Good luck, go win some money.
