Valve seat perch deformation
Heads are IK215 Brodix.
-no detonation. Rich
-hydraulic roller/Johnson lifters
-180 seat/425 open
-pulled to 7200 free revs to 8000 hits limiter (when prop out of water)
-cooling: water pumped into water pump entrances on block, front manifold crossover blocked, water comes out of rear of manifold to front rises out of extended water neck then out to exhaust. Engine in backwards and on a 12deg angle pointed up in front. 1/16 bleed holes drilled in front water crossover block offs for air bleeds. Engine is in a boat.

- 1/3 of no 1 intake seat sunk into head deforming aluminum. No 3 did as well but not as bad. No 1,3,5 intake valves elongated,1 and 3 were tuliped slightly.
- Brodix says it was heat but did say possible aluminum hardness problem. There were no signs of heat…chambers say it was rich, plugs said same thing and absolutely no heat signs on underside of all pistons.

Anyone have any insight? Thanks -Sonny

All on one head? If lack of cooling was the issue both heads should have failed also. Assuming these are new heads, I'd be discussing with Brodix a warranty repair at least, preferably replacement head....Sounds like you got a soft head

Then why the tuliped & elongated valves?

I wouldn't think a free rev to 8000 would be good on it. Don't know boats and haven't run hydraulic valve trains in years so I could be wrong.

Not enough timing advance.?
That's a lot of spring pressure, in my opinion.
