Just opened up a drum of sealed alcohol we purchased about a year ago and found a bunch of redish suspended particles floating around ??? Almost looks like a rag or paper towel came apart but I'm assuming it's the lube gelling up ??? Easily strains out using a paint strainer. Still safe to use ??? Thanks !!

The Super Pro race I won last year at Orlando was out of a Interstate Racing fuel drum of Methanol, stored in a buddy's garage for 10 years. Not exaggerating 10 years. Pink fuel, Klotz lube. Wasn't sealed either, he made a handful of runs down the track at Bradenton, out of the drum in 2017. It looked just a tad murky, ran fine.

I would filter it and use. I’ve never heard of lube turning to a gel. Perhaps the barrel was not clean when filled. I use Klotz Uplon for years (it’s red) and have had it sit in partially filed barrels extended periods (7+ months) over winter from prior year and never seen this. I only purchase methanol without lube and add Uplon when I pick up the barrel for the ride home.

Filter it run it. If worried filter and use to warm car and fill tank with fresher load. If Barrel or container is air tight and no water got in then filtering is all you need. America home of free. Brought to you by 2nd amendment.

What Mark said a 100%. Have been using Klotz for over 20 years and never had it separate in a barrel. 1 quart to a drum will give the alcohol a very slight red tint is all. Had alcohol sit have full in a drum all winter and ran fine the next season.

I have used alcohol that I know was 10 years old with no problems and could not tell any difference from fresh. I would be concerned about the red stuff in there may be rust from barrel? https://postimg.cc/gallery/np3zpruo/ "Dunning-Kruger Effect" -a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge. Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue. 4X NE2 CHAMPION. 2020 TDRA NE2 Champion
