Not sure about now, but the last set of those I saw were complete junk!!!! I wouldn't put them on a lawn mower to finish a yard.....

Never tried PRW but have had good luck with comp or scorpions rockers you lookin ar stud or shaft rockers

I have Scorpion 7/16" Stud rockers and no issues but thinking about more durability. Probably stay with the Scorpions, no failures in 640 runs.

When I needed rockers for my new race sbc I looked at prw because of price. In the end I went ahead and put up the he money for T&D sportsman shaft rockers. I’m very glad I did. A guy I know and race with went with the prw shafts on his build and the difference in the quality between them is night and day for the T&D system. I suggest you go T&D sportsman or stay with your scorpion stud mounted if they are working for you.

We have 2 sets of T&D's and a set of Jesel. The T&D product support is great I'd go T&D, plus with a shaft rocker system you know if something is wrong as it don't change.

Scorpion is in Ocala. Maybe visit them on your way home if they offer shaft mounted for your heads. I have Jesel aluminum and Crower steel for the same sbc heads and both have been excellent to include the tech help.

I have several sets of Jesels and one set of T&D, my first choice is Crower and what I have on both of my good motors.

With that said I have a 406 tow truck motor and I may try the Summit Procomp shaft rockers on it. They are under $350 and have to be better than the factory stamped steel rocker arms. But that is with basically stock springs and cam.

When you go up on lift and spring pressure you need good rocker arms.

If your cam and springs is much more than factory I would go with better rocker arms.

Nothing wrong with stud mount stuff on conventional head stuff, with stud girdle if you are running a solid roller cam for sure.
Mostly under 7500 rpm use, shaft mounts are overkill.
One consideration is SPARE parts at the track....stud mount stuff is everywhere.
In addition, you're probably going to need custom length pushrods? Again, who's got spares at the track?
If you have more than one set of heads you want to run, will the shaft mount system work on all of them?
I like to be able to mix and match my engines if the need arises.

IF I was to pull the trigger on them, it would be Crower, Jesel, or T & D, probably in that order.....

I have little experience of best/ better internal mechanicals in engines other than what I read, and thank you for sharing this.



mem – don’t have spare internal parts, but do have complete duplicate engine

Nothing I own ever sees over 7000 RPM, what's the point? .05 or .10 makes no difference.
I will likely stay with what I have and use the stud girdle. A set of $1200 heads shouldn't need $1400 worth of rockers, right? That's a LOT OF BUY BACKS!!

Back during covid, when you couldn't find a lot of parts, I bought a set of Assault roller rockers from Australia. They were for a BBC, 1.7 - 7/16 stud. My plan was to use them until I could get some Comp's, but I was extremely impressed with the product design and quality. Compared them with some Crane Gold rockers and they actually were every bit as good, perhaps even superior. They are still on the engine today. Price was very close to Scorpion.

When I rebuilt a set of heads for the 406 I put new 7/16" studs, Scorpion rockers, stud girdle I bought used and new adjustable guide plates on it. I spent right at $640.00 and for 640+ runs, no issues to speak of. Pushrods were about $120.00.

I did just order a set of the Assault 1.5-7/16" rockers with adjusters, $149.95. Their store is 70 miles from my house and free shipping. Going to see what they look like when I get back home.

If so, I have bought parts from them before, excellent to deal with.
I think you'll like the Assault rockers, they are definitely designed well and made better than a lot of the more generic stuff out there. Extruded from 6061-T6, (stronger than cast), CNC machined, hand finished, and they accommodate high lift cams, larger diameter springs and retainers. Another feature I liked, was the axles at the tips have retaining clips on them, instead of being press-fit into the rocker body, which can cause cracks over time.

They arrived today and my son is going to take a look. Both the S10s have pretty basic 23-degree heads. Both have rockers with 600 to 1000 runs on them. A few have been replaced. This looks like a great price, still a little suspect at $149.00 but we will see how they hold up in May. (I may see if I can get a local dyno shop to try a set on a mule motor they have.)

If what Jim said is true about 6061 then I would look at how much deflection you get with them. There are much better alloys for the job but that helps explain the price point.

Agreed. A $10 aftermarket rocker arm on an engine worth $8k or more to build would not be my choice.
