If it has the 4.10 diff gears then definitely yes. If 3.73 this is ok but be aware of less tow capacity. If it has the 3.42 don’t even consider this truck imho.

The 6.4 is a good engine. The Ram 2500 have rear coil springs for a smoother ride even when towing. I’ve test driven both the 5.7 and 6.4 engine in this truck and 4.10 vs the 3.73 gears. I like 6.4 and 4.10 with 18” tires. The smaller tire offers additional gear ratio over the optional 20” tires.

If you take the vehicle vin # to the parts service counter they can tell you what diff ratio the truck has if unknown.

Although I only have a 2011 Ram 1500 Hemi 5.7 with 3.92 gears I will share this. My enclosed 24’ trailer is 7k loaded and I recently went from WI to Rockingham NC (955 miles) over the Appalachian Mountains for the first time several weeks ago. Crossing Southern Ohio into WV and Virginia towing 65 mph was never a problem to include being passed by and passing Semis in inclines and declines (Fancy Gap) on the mountain range.

I’ve had two Dodge/Ram diesel trucks. One a 2003, the other a 2015. My current truck is a 2017 2500 with the 6.4L Hemi and the 4.10 rear gear.

This truck pulls my 11,500 lb enclosed trailer very well. Equally as well as the 2015 diesel with the only difference I see towing it the engine needs more rpm due to the lack of torque. So instead of lugging up a hill at 2500 rpm, your gonna be turning 4500-5000 rpm depending on what gear the trans has to drop down to.

I have no regrets going back to gas, only negative I have seen is lower fuel economy.
