I went with the XSPower and their charger due to all advice here. Works great and I highly recommend it.

XS Power has 3 16V batteries, the two I would look at are the D1600 and S1600. The only differences are that the weight of the S1600 is 30.5 lbs and has 500 CCA (still plenty to turn over a race engine) and the D1600 has 625 CCA at 46 lbs. The D1600 also has a little more of a reserve capacity, but I have never seen the S1600 run out of juice, but IMO if you are worried about weight, the lighter one will be great, if power and reserve are a concern the heavier one will do fantastic as well. Either way, I would look into an alternator just for the insurance factor of helping keeping it charged. As for charger, the XS Power intelli charger is the only charger I'll use for 16V stuff, and they make a version that you can also switch between 12/16V.

My personal setup in my dragster is the D1600 with alternator, and it works fantasitc. I would have went with lightweight one, but I didn't start out with an alternator and really wish I would have.

I also bought the XS 1600 and the XS Intellicharger battery charger. I leave the charger on 7-24 during the week, it safely senses the amount of charge necessary. I have a 16 volt alternator although the XS battery will easily hold a sufficient charge while going rounds.

My personal opinion is the XS D-1600 battery and I wouldn’t waste my money on the big charger. I would buy the Autometer BEX-5000 maintainer if it were me. Summit has it for 65 bucks, I never use my big charger, it’s my backup. Good luck with whatever you decide.

batteries are all good, the biggest thing is the charger. spend the money on the moroso as teh others will get hot and sh*t the bed. We have gone through way more chargers, and we have had all of them, than batteries.

I was warned that some chargers will burn up your batteries, get the XS Power charger for their batteries and you will not have any problems. Several people told me the cheaper chargers burned up theirs.
