Dragster step
Some time ago I saw pics of swing out steps for dragsters. My new dragster is somewhat taller than my old one, and with the body panels in place, it's gonna be a challenge to get into the car. I've done a couple of searches for them but can't seem to find those swing out steps that are made for dragsters. Does anybody know of where I can get one or who makes them?

Not sure if you are interested but a friend had M&M build him a center steer roadster with an air assisted step that was really cool.

We took the easy way out with our "taller" Don Davis car.

I have a 3' step ladder I hang off the side of the Golf Cart and just pop it open by the windshield, when Steve is ready to get into the the car.

He just puts his butt up on the rollbar at the end of a run and slides right off to the ground!

EASY!

I get out of the car the same way, stand up and sit on the cage. The biggest issue with the new car is the body panels are much taller than my old one and I can't step over them like I can in my old car. I have a small step I can use, but if I'm running solo and don't have help, I need something that I don't have to move out of the way.

The simplest solution I saw was a 1.25+" tube that ran through a new hole in the body and was welded to the top Main Railes, right in front of the seat..

There was a close fit tube that ran through the body inside the outer tube and almost all of the way across the chassis.

There was a tab welded to the inner tube end that was flush against the body and you could use it to pull the step out.

The outer tube had a long slot cut in the top of it across the chassis and there was a small handle that was screwed into a time-cert or other threaded insert in the inner tube. That allows the driver to slide the step back when they they are in the driver's seat.

A little complicated initially, but really easy 'one man' opertion after that!

So like a sliding lock for a door so as information is use .058 wall thick tubing telescopes into the next size smaller tubing great now I have another thing to add to my car

Like Gerard said.. I rebuilt a roadster for Tommy Madgen years ago and made a slide out step for him. It was air activated so he could use his on board CO2. Used a spring retracted air cylinder and a 3 way air switch to supply air. Worked neat. Just don't stand in front of the tube when you activate it...lol Shins will take a beating..
