I don't know how many manufacturers actually make aftermarket bell housings for powerglides. My guess is only a few. I bought a PG for my 68 Camaro project. It is new/fresh, never been installed or had fluid in it, but has been sitting for about 3 years. Has an aftermarket bell housing and a BTE shield, turbo spline input shaft & pro brake, and the SFI cert sticker expired a few months ago. I looked all over the bell, (except for the mating surface at the trans case, I did not pull it off). Not seeing a manufacturer or any identifying markings on it anywhere. Pretty sure I know who built the trans, he does a ton of race Glides in the midwest area, and pretty-much uses all BTE internals exclusively. I plan to try and reach him, and ask some questions, but my main concern is trying to get the bell re-certified. I would imagine the Reid's, JW's, and other well-known makers put their logo or other marks on their bells, right? Any ideas on how I can identify the manufacturer? If I am unable to find out who made it, am I stuck buying a new one? Do most Mfrs only cert their own, or do some certify any others? Thanks in advance for any advice or info. -Jim.This message has been edited. Last edited by: FootbrakeJim, Dan "Jim" Moore Much too young to feel this damn old!!

It will be a JW Ultrabell - we didn't start offering our own bolt on PG bell until last year. The bell will need to be returned to JW for re-cert.
