Top Sportsman generally will use glides because it's a dial in class. The Outlaw 632 guys run 3 speeds and claim they are quicker than a glide. The top Outlaw 632 guys run 5 speed Liberty's. I can't help you with ratio's because I believe they are very combo specific.

Rusty, I would bet it is probably a 1.58 ratio or so. I help chassis tuning on a pro mod up here and we went from a 1.68 to the 1.58 to calm it down alot, still need to get the wheel speed up in the correct range but settles the car down and gets the RPM's where they need to be. Some use a 2 speed 400 instead of a 3 speed 400, ours is 1.56, 1.36 and 1:1

Scooter Hampton runs a 2.10 low Rossler. The Wright's have some taller first gears.

In that case (3 speed + power), purpose for a wheely bar wouldn't be for wheely's, it would be for kicking it in the azz - wheel speed.

So, what is the overall thought process or goal with the TH400's. I imagine they are larger and heavier? Why use one and only use two speeds? For much less SLR?
Are some using the three gears so they can tighten up the converter?
Inquiring minds!

My very fast customer just switched to a true three speed TH400 with lots of tricks. It's very easy to go north of $10K on a TH400. My guy is a twin turbo radial racer with tiny tires on the back.

back in 2011, the top of the line Rossler Pro Mod turbo400 in the "silver Bullet" that Melanie Troxel drove to the National record, cost $8,000 and Roger Burgess was buying 8 of them at at time.
