I have a 454 BBC with Steel heads in my bracket Nova. My kid and I run the crap out of this car it is super fun to drive. Its 6.0s @ 114ish. It just bent a valve last weekend. It has stud mounted Harland sharp rockers. I check the valves every other time out. I rarely have to adjust anything. I started to take it apart at the track and noticed the center pivot on the rocker was cracked. Im guessing the rockers stuck and hung the valve open. Cam is .714 lift roller lifters should I have shaft rockers on this? Trying to do this as economical as possible. Recommendation?

Comp Cams Ultra Pro Magnum's I think is what we have on our mild bracket BBC in dragster. Probably close to 700 runs with zero issues out of rockers on a .775 lift, 900ish hp going 4.90's

I have a set of Harland Sharps that were run for 10-15 years without a failure. I have one of them on my door car now after a Spring failure wiped out one of the Harland Sharp HD set that I’m running now.
This is on a BBC with .730 gross lift.
The Crower stainless are nice too. I had those on my dragster with a little over .800 lift before putting on T&D.

Always have used the Harland Sharp Wide Body rocker. Money well spent. HD Rocker series. Clears my 1.640 springs no problem. Good for 1100 Lbs. .850 lift here.
Sharp might warranty it. Call them. Worth the call. They really stand behind their products. This message has been edited. Last edited by: TD3550,

Comp 1820-16 worked for me forever. Depending on spring pressure a 1620-16 will probably be fine. Very hard to find right now however since comp has been backordering these for a while. You may find someone with them in stock however.

I got these for sale Crower stainless. They were on a tall deck BBC in a Ray Miller dragster I did for a guy. He ran them from 2014 when I did the engine until 2020, when he freshened the engine and went to T&D shafts.
They're pretty beefy apparently. They lasted 6 years on the Screamer tall deck 540, no burnout chip. The camshaft was a little over 820 lift, Cam Motion.
A 6.0 454 should not need anything near fancy for rockers. Lash and deflection maybe .675 lift. You probably have something else going on, rockers don't usually cause, they get broken because of something else. Tight guide, lifter issue, dead spring. Ya need to look further. Find the cause.

My Reher-Morrison 540 came with Harland Sharp stud mounted rocker arms. Five years and over 500 runs with one overhaul, and the original rocker arms are still on the heads with no problems.

All of the bold would tell me to put the same rockers right back on it. Why change what is working? The best parts made still break sometimes.
