FWIW we use ladder bars and a STOCK front end on the heads up car. Only addition to that is a steering stabilizer/bump steer kit.

Ladder bar systems need front system attention. Free moving, plenty of travel, minimum bump steer.

Once the rear wheel wheels arrive the rear section work will begin. I want to be sure of the framework required for the Hoosier 30 x 10.5 radial. I think a sectioning/narrowing of the frame will be sufficient. The wheels will arrive in about two weeks.

Well we have been 1.06 60' with an NA SB in a 2800lb Vette with ladder bars so I think it works ok. And in our case the front end is just about completely tied down. Otherwise she like to wheelie abnd we ahve 56% on the front. Moved the engine FORWARD almost a foot...If we miss the track conditions with the bars are 1/2 to high we get and an extra 1/2" of travel we get this...And this was a test and tune night at a very not so good track. Was better than I gave it credit for for sure..

Al, that is what I am expecting. Good job.

Also, what length bar do you have and what is the installed angle of the bar?

Larry sent you a PM. But two quick answers. The bars are 32" long and we have Lamb brakes on a stock spindle. AS for the wheelstand stuff just a miscalculation on a sketchy track we really should not race at. But we are very limited out west where we can go. We use it to test stuff on the car. This is the first time it has done that in YEARS..

This is a more typical leave for the car. This was a 4.98/141 lap FWIW

This photo shows that my idea of sectioning/narrowing the OE frame will work. The tire will be about 2.50" more inboard than in the photo. Also note the over length axle tube. This is the 30x10.5 radial.

I had already decided to name the Vette "StingFin" [Stingray & Woodfin] even before I uncovered the wasp nest inside the frame.

The frame has been sectioned, leaving only the inner face. I will reinforce the section by adding 2"x2" tubing on the inside of the remaining frame. Also, any bracing or brackets that were originally attached are remaining, thus, adding structure. This modification has gained 2 1/2" of tire clearance.

This plastic LS block belongs to a street rod buddy, Bill Arnold. It is mighty handy for construction purposes.

The "StingFin" progress is good. The rear section has worked out as expected, some "whittling" on the floor and frame rails has the Hoosier radial fitting just right. The front ladder bar rod end is just under the floor as is the front ladder bar crossmember. The driver's seat and ladder bar clearance are a barely but enough. More info and pics later.

Today was a good workday. Mild temp, low humidity, foreword progress. All the rear section work is now roughed in. All brackets and crossmembers tacked in place and aligned as planned. The next few weeks will bring significant gains.

Life and events have caused the project to be on the back burner for a while. [mostly my wife's poor health]

But it will come back to the front burner at the correct time. I expect this to be an outstanding foot brake package. It has a shorty wheelbase [98"] engine set way back, relatively light weight, reasonably aerodynamic. And a big one, the body and paint are good. [well, it has a good, six-foot appearance:}
