sc4087Dry sump capacity
I got my first ever dry sump system and want to ask a stupid question. How do you know how much oil this thing holds? How full do I fill the tank? I'm @ 9 qts now and it still looks low to me

Mike NitzscheMy tank is about half full with engine running. I know I drained the oil this year, then put 2 gallons in the tank and it's been fine.

The Bozmantank is half full when running, usually around 9 quarts on my 622 dry sump motor.

Roger McGinnisI would also guess that you'll end up with 9 quarts. You'll know when it's to much when you blow it out the breather.

Bad NewsOn a fresh deal, that has never had oil, 8-9
Too many different size tanks, to give a concrete answer.
People buy tanks the are big off e bay and other places.
A standard Moroso, Peterson, or others can be at 8 qts.
You have to look at the tank and the baffles to see if the oil is getting aerated.

RichiePeterson Pro Stock tank, 5 stage = 9 qts. dry, 8 on change, ends up alittle over 1/2 full in tank.
NOTE: don't freak out if you check level in tank and it's empty, oil will drain back to pan
check while running!!!!
Soo nice not having to worry about oil press. anymore.

Strange MagicWith the engine running and in park, bring the engine rpm up around 1600 to 1800 and look into the tank. Set the level at slightly under 1/2 the tank height. The crappier the pump is, the more total capacity it will need to reach that mark as indicated above.
