Does anybody know if a 1.76 gear set will fit into a 1.68 carrier? I don't know what brand the carrier is, so calling the manufacture isn't an option. I understand this is a kinda vague question. I'm hoping someone can say "yes, the carriers are all the same" This is a short dragster unit

Dave, to my knowledge, all Powerglide cases [OE and aftermarket] are the same. Thus, the case will accommodate any gearset. Also note, each gear set ratio is a specific set [planet, ring gear, and sun gear that goes on the clutch drum], and they are all a specific match. An excellent resource is the Powerglide manual by Carol Munroe.

Dave, I rechecked your post and realized you are talking about changing gears in the planet carrier. As posted above, I expect what you quested will not exchange.

There are 2 different style factory carriers. The 1.76 and the 1.82. I've never heard of a 1.68 just a 1.65 and 1.69 which I'm assuming maybe you mean.

The 1.76 carriers are machined. The 1.82 were stamped. 6cyl stuff and won't hold up.

Not 100% but 99% sure there is no different styles, even aftermarket. All based on the 1.76 factory design, it's just gear ratios and reinforcement changes.

The 1.68 is probably ATI. They make different gear sets...
