AFR #1055 210 CNC heads, anyone using them?

I am trying to find a replacement for my "cracked beyond repair" Brodix 11 heads.
AFR makes a set (#1055) Race-Ready that have the SPREAD PORT EXHAUST ports I need to use the same headers.
Anyone tried them out? Not concerned with a max power thing, this is a 6.30 No Box S10 with a 377" in it.
Thanks,
Jok

I have a set of the 1065's, no complaints except the plug locations are deep in the casting, and hard to get to with some headers. Might be different for your spread ports.
Their recommended spark plug also doesn't cross into NGK resistor plugs very well.

Overall great workmanship, I had my man set them up for my flat tappet cam, and he found no flaws.
Quality product.

Jok, if you have a relationship with a head porter, ask him to flow your old head. Then, call AFR and ask what the performance difference will be. Is the 11X still available from Brodix?

The 11X with it's spread port ex is available but pricey considering it is not cnc ported.
The 1055 from AFR is their 210 with spread port ex and that fits our headers. They have a Race-Ready which is cnc ported but is a little wavier than the "Competition" version which is a finer, shorter stroke cnc finish, same other parts.
$2300 is a decent price for new heads and roller cam ready. If they have them, I rhink I will get some coming for the 377 in our No Box S10 we got running this Summer.

Thanks.

Jok, do you run larger than 5/16” pushrods? I would make sure they will clear if so.

I have 5/16" because the Brodix required the smaller pushrod as well. Thanks.

The AFR heads are a nice, the workmanship is good I would look at the AFR competition ported 220 head, I think the 210 will leave you wanting more after running the 11x Brodix. My roadster with a 414 and AFR 220 Competition ported heads goes high 5.20s all day. My S-10 with the same motor would go low to mid 5.90s. The good thing with the 220s the do not need an offset lifter or rocker arm. If you go bigger than the AFR 220 you will need an offset lifter or offset rocker to get the geometry correct.

Thanks JAFR,

We are not "looking for speed" actually. Sometimes we have to turn down the launch rpm to around 3000 for No Box and the ported 11X heads were pretty sluggish that low. That is sort of why I think the smaller port might have a little better low rpm consistency. Called AFR, they leaned to the 220s as well. Decision time I guess.

Jok,

Go with your gut feeling on the AFR 210 heads.

This is bracket racing & it's about "consistency" & of course other strategies!

My vote is for the 210s. The flow numbers look better than your 11Xs, you're not going to be hurting for power. They will be a nice upgrade from your current head.

Jok,
What was the port size / cc on your 11X heads?

I am inclined to agree with 2BKing and your thoughts on the improved velocity with the 210 AFR heads.

Here's the specs on the head, you have to scroll down on the page to get the flow & cc of the port. Stock they're 225cc. The comparison of port flow between the 2 heads tells a better story.

Footbrake a BKing,
Thanks. The old Brodix I had were originally hand ported as was the intake to a 1207 gasket size. Really nice job for back in the day before CNC. Had a Dominator Brodix intake on it and it has been HOGGED OUT!
Going with the 210s, Edelbrock Victor Jr and 1000 CFM Rupert Alky carb.

Appreciate your input. If this engine is as good as the one in the other S10..sweet!

Oh yeah, one thing I forgot about my AFR's...they required some really long pushrods, +.200" I think, for whatever reason.
