Is there any advantage with the 153 tooth wheel versus a 168 tooth one?

The advantages are at least but not limited to;

The 153 tooth allows the starter to be mounted slightly closer to the block, thus, in some situations helping header clearance.

The 153 tooth, in theory, spins the engine faster because of the change in ratio. [This assumes the starter has the power to do so. Most quality aftermarket starters do]

I went to 139 tooth flexpalte probably around 2012 and will not run anything else now. The reason is the 139 tooth plate is same diameter as the 168 tooth plate but has larger teeth and they do not break. Plus it spins over faster due to larger starter pinion gear.

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.
