TD3550#12.Don't forget to run a taller fill neck. On some i have installed a Pet*** in the front or rear of the intake . Makes it easy to bleed the air out on the fill. Especially with lay down radiators.

TOP38#12 is common but I have seen smaller work also. A #10 and a good water pump will flow a good amount of water.

Curly1I am doing my new car in -12 PTFE hose. Rear mounted radiator on Alcohol. I have used -10 before and it worked just fine.

True.
I have used #8 and a small Davis radiator in front of the foot box (spitzer). I have used #8 with an larger AFCO above the transmission (race tech) and currently a typical AFCO on the blow shield with a #16 supply and #12 return (american) all using the exact same engine.....no difference.

Toad1I have found it is more about "time in the radiator" rather than how fast it can pump through it. We had a door car that actually ran cooler with a much smaller radiator and #8 hose rather than stock hoses into a bigger radiator. Warmed up easier and was easier to maintain the same temp between rounds. Block was half-filled so actually there was less water in the system to cool after the runs. Just my opinion.

Mike AllredI used marine exhaust hose 1.5” and 1.75” to the full size radiator in the bed of my pickup. The capacity is huge so A 160 thermostat is used, and I can run back-to-back rounds all day long in 100 degree heat. I’m running gas by the way. Hope this wasn’t a dragster only topic…

Curly1Well, if I was running gas I would go with a larger radiator than I did for alcohol and may consider larger hoses to.

sc4087I run #8 on all of our dragsters. Like Toad stated, I read a tech article years and years ago about the water needing time to stay in the radiator and dissipate heat rather than just run thru it fast. Moroso used to make water restrictors to put in place of a thermostat to do the same thing. Come look at my temp gauge in the lanes late rounds anytime you'd like.

1legIs this on a dragster or Door car? What engine are you running?
Meziere Tech.
Make sure your water pump is on whenever you check your coolant level.

DragRaceResultsWe use -10 on all our cars with the radiator mounted over the 4 link. Cars are on gas, never an issue. Easier to plumb and fittings are cheaper.

I've been waiting for you to post on this. I've always ran 12 line to my rear mounted radiator with the Meziere 100HD pump in my 1200-1300 hp RED. Although like a few have posted, there was an article a few years ago about running smaller line to keep the coolant in the radiator longer. I am considering a switch to -10 coolant lines.
What are your thoughts? I think I remember you disputing this a while back.

1320racerTony, I don’t believe it. We can stage at any temp we want late in the rounds with -12 hoses. Won a grueling 8 round race in brutal heat and humidity several months ago snd cooling was never an issue.

Lenny5160My current car is all -12 but my previous car, on the advice of Meziere, was -16 into the pump and -12 out of the intake to create a pressurized system.
Those -16 fittings really sucked to buy!
