TD3550Unit looks pretty impressive. Too many moving parts for me. I'll stick with my 6" coupler.
Short Little Ba** I wonder just how much those CV center will take?

S/C718I had a chance to talk to the owner of Goethe at the spring fling in Vegas. The units are pretty impressive. I have a 4.60 dragster and I have had a driveshaft come apart on my car. I will be ordering a Goethe setup this off season. They handle quite a bit of power. I have seen them on 4 teen cars and they have had never issues.

S/S DartAre these aluminum shafts that are breaking?

"The Bender"If you have a fast dragster with a driveshaft, it's the way to go.

CURTIS REEDDoesn’t J.R. (Seabass) run one in his TD?

sittin duckI've been running one for a couple years, definitely the way to go.

racerdude2054luke bogacki runs the CVD system, i looked into it but the price tag is north of 1K, i think around the 1500 mark but I am unsure
My smart remark is that hoosiers are rattling so bad they are breaking the drive shaft

Will HarrisonA lot of builders supply the cheapest pos driveshaft they can, so those typically fail. The only mark Williams driveshaft I've seen fail was because the assembler didn't get the u joint into the seat and clamped down on the cap, put it into a bind and blew that thing to pieces on the starting line, destroying the backhalf of the chassis.

BuckyA lot of dragsters breaking driveshafts lately? What kind of dragsters are these? How old were the shafts? Seems like another answer to a problem that doesn't exist. Maybe these are better for higher HP applications?

Old SGMy daughter in-law had the very first Goethe shaft in her T/D AND there has been zero issues for the since installed. I think it has been 6 years now. Bret used to work for Mark Williams before going out on his own. We have known Bret for a number of decades and he is a great inventor and person. We will always use one of his drive shafts for a suspended dragster.

There is a part that goes on the rear end that replaces the yoke for the cv shaft to bolt to there is room on it to mount your collar for the driveshaft sensor that's where I mounted mine. And yes Bret is a great guy always keeping a eye on how his customers are doing on the track.

SCDIV1The only dragster driveshaft I've seen break was an aluminum shaft or a yoke or u-joint failure and that's very rare.
October 06, 2018, 07:59 PM
Chris701Had to go and look at system, constant velocity joint like VW used in the 1970 beetle axle shafts only bigger. Lube and seals were the problem that led to balls wearing out causing clicking and play in the shaft. Running at the same angle will cause balls to wear into curved slot they ride in. I have a MW alum driveshaft from 1995 still in car, its not the fastest car but I've looked at the u-joints once in the 16 yrs I've owned it. Car weights 2100 with me in it also.
