Carb spacers again
New thread, but back on topic of carb spacers. Since I'm moving back to the mountains, I don't want to lose the power normally lost when going up in altitude....So which spacers should I get for my throttle bodies? Should I stack four or five? Tapered or straight? Both? Four hole or open? Both???

I'm guessing with the gains realized by Mikey, I think 4-6 spacers under each throttle body, alternating open, four hole, tapered, and finally shear plate should gain back all the hp I'll lose from the altitude gain, and likely give me more hp than seen without them at sea level. Should also reduce fuel consumption slightly, and give me better overall throttle response....

Thoughts???

I run a Reher Morrison sheer and anti reversion spacer.

Seems to work alright for me.

I'm fairly certain you won't find a sbc 6.40 or slower, with more mph at 3200 lbs.

Without the use of a throttle stop.

Like 100% certain.

All steel street car factory condition , triple chrome plated steel bumpers.

If you've never raced on the mountain, I wouldn't be saying something isn't possible. There are cars with combos up there that run the same et/mph as similar combos do at sea level... Typical average DA there is 8500+ft.....

Want to qualify for FAST 16? Better have a six second car..over half the field can run under 6.50. There are plenty of N/A cars running into the 7's there as well..... Quick 16 has a bunch of 6 second cars as well and super pro is filled with 7-8 second cars....and a lot aren't dragsters.....

Saying you have a fast car at sea level is easy... Having a fast car on the mountain is a different story altogether....

If it's a big block then you want an even number of spacers. It's well documented, google it. However the shortest path would be the Allen Johnson's mountain spacer package. Cuts out all the guess work. Just sayin.

Once again Edward has no Evidence.

While I do, which is emotionally distasteful to Edward.

Why Edward?

CV is right Colorodo. if big block only use even number of spacers.

so depending on how much you want to pick up I will give you a chart.

2 RM shear spacers = .6 sec
4 RM shear spacers = 1.2 sec
6 RM shear spacers = 2.4 sec

depending on hood clearance it may be possible to stack enough RM shear spacers to set the Bonneville Salt Flats land speed record.

ep-Colorado gonna be so fast that he will be there before he leaves.

Some junk I threw together in the back yard with a Reher Morrison spacer plate on top.

just read this on the interweb so it has to be true.

space-x is now looking into using the RM shear spacer on the next space launch to the international space station. the only concern they have by using the RM shear spacer they are worried they will over shoot the space station and end up on Uranus.

ep-you heard it here first people

I see the mysterious ticket has shown up again with the 1.28 60'.

ep-they probably make a 2 hole shear spacer to go over the dead cows nose to help him out RPROGAS

Ed, two things. First, because Mikey said so, that ain't your time slip!!! Laughing Hard

Second, what's your thoughts on the spacer combo, but using a throttle stop with only one blade working, while pulling 12* at the hit, shift, and above 3000 rpm? I'm thinking that if I aim directly for the cone at the finish line, that will help increase trap speed and reduce et....

Thoughts??????
