I have new pistons that will work with 4.250 crank and the 7.190 rods in engine. I also have another crank and block. 4.5" crank I could use its brand new(25 yo no runs). I could buld with but will require new rods.

Question is has anyone built engine with 1/4"more crank only real change. If so gain much?

I ran it threw desk top dyno.Actually showed less hp and TQ. Hard as hell to buy that one. Hell it is 28 ci got to make little more power.

What kind of gain ho/tq or just et works too.

I recently went from a 555 4.25x4.56 to a 582 4.375x4.60 including a cam and converter change so far it seems to be around .08 faster in the 1/8.

I have a question for all the engine builders.

What ALWAYS happens when you increase the stroke?

If you change nothing else, all you will see is the peak power RPM numbers move.

Is it worth a set of rods to be able to use that crank and pistons, even if it won't be a performance upgrade?

I know I am going to piss a few off.Not saying bracket is easy racing, Just parts are way over built.

Kind of feel guyilty using this stuff for bracket car, Understanding that these where same parts used in TF when we purchasd, Same manufacture and same pieces maybe spec;d different. Hell crank cost 3200 30 years ago. New ones of same caliber are close to 6k.

that in part depends on rod length. too.

You do add tq which gets everything moving.

At this mooment I can have a 482 and 540.Could also build a 511 and a 510 just total different approach. One big bore 4.375 small crank 4.25 and one small bore 4,25 big crank 4.5. Still using same two sets of rods on 7.190 and one 7.070. Now one would be 12.5 and other 13 to 15:1 depemnding on gasket. So many choices

I see no down side to increasing cubic inches. Remember the old debate 383 or 377 SBC? "Well the 383 will have more torque. " "Yes, but 377 can turn more RPM"

So what? 406 will outrun both of them, nothing beats displacement. The 406 will have more torque and horsepower. My current SBC I am building is 463 cubic inches and would go bigger if I could.

Little to none. Only difference would be piston dweel time and that effect on piston chasing or running away from valve. Not sure you could find it.

post little off track and lot of that on me,hell most of it.

Still wondering if anyone has seen a gain et wise from extra arm length.

I more than understand only one substitue for ci and that is boost, well and/or nitrous.

Just wondering if enough there to justify another 1500 bucks for return in a sport or part of it where et means nothing if do it everytime. Undersanding that depends on my veiw. Reason asking what may be worth.

Long list of want to do and just figuring what gives best return on money. See wife is wrong about I am irresonsible when spending money.LMAO

I am pretty sure there would be no market for the thousands of stroker kits out there if nothing would be gained from doing it.
Real world, a friend who runs a SST Malibu stroked his 468 to a 496 10 years ago and gained .05 -.06 using same exact cam and converter.

As often as your car makes it to the track you would be much better off investing in a drum of nitro. Guaranteed to pick up et and speed plus attract some attention

while far from a lot I did get 35 plus passes in this year.

I did take all off hotter part of summer off so my toe could heal. Nomrally not big deal buit with diabetes and a year and half to get it healed I figured more important. Only took 2 months after i made a shoe for it and did not heal any in 15 months befor that.

Again 35 not a lot by most all of you guys standard. Did get few good hits after sorting out few things and IMO 4.80's with 4.82 ci mild compression engiune not terrible.

I have 30 gal of nitro as is. got it from A/fuel team I worked with.Trade for work and cheesecakes. Best pay for cheese cakes. 5 gal for 4 every race.

Want new t-shirt will bake for nitro.LMAO
