Mounting Vacuum pump puke tank
The moroso on my car was a spare a local heads up racer had, complete kit new in wrapper, tank fittings, pump, everything but hoses.

He switched to GZ or star, can't remember. We got this for $300 complete, I bought it, then a buddy bought it from me, he had it 3-4 years never used it. Handed it back to me and said here, bolt this on there. Seems fine, zero maintenance, the bong water must be keeping it free'd up. Dunno.

The vacuum pump on the 565 in our dragster will start it's 21st season. It is a three vane Moroso and holds 5-6 at idle and set to pull about 11-12 at finish line. Outlet fitting is out the outside and tank in behind the right cyl head. We get a little water (alcohol fuel) and alky with maybe a couple teaspoons of oil in a 7 or 8 round day. Get 80% of it on initial warmup. Most pumps work fine, just make sure your engine is sealed up.

GZ makes great stuff but so does Dan Page! Mine doesn't blow any oil out also!

Another great item Dan makes is a double bearing rear shorty PG cover for 4 link dragsters, it provides much better yoke & drive shaft support!!!!

I think any pump will make an oily mess if it is pulling air through the motor. Mine sure made heck of a mess before I got it sealed up good. The GZ is a very good pump but drawing oil through a pump is a sign of air leaks in motor or possibly bad location of the vacuum hose like right over a rocker arms.

-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

I have a Moroso 22642 that runs at 80%, pulls 14 to 15# at full throttle at the stripe. The tank is mounted on the left side of the radiator shroud, its slightly lower than the pump but very close so the drain line is short. There is a drain line pet-kock valve on the bottom of the tank that is easy to access, it will drain a very small amount of oil from the tank after four or five runs.

Looking at pictures of engines on Reher Morrison website and several of them are plumbed going up hill before they go down into puke tank.

they mount the puke tanks there for photo and shipping purposes. Puke tanks are not included in an engine purchase from most professional sportsman engine builders. Further, where you mount your puke tank in your car is dictated by the type of car, engine bay and accessories, NOT the engine builder.

So what part of this don't you understand?

That is what my buddy runs on his Mopars. They do it too. Took a good hour to clean the car after the first run at the track the last time I drove it.

I think my Star pump looks just fine. I did Cerakote it this year in Black and Sniper Grey and I think it looks a lot better than the old Blue and Red that it came with.

I don’t understand how the engine bay and everything you just said dictates where it’s mount but yet it must be mounted down hill. You left out that part in this post.

I thought you said "you don't recommend buying a CSR pump, BUT you can repair them if someone still has one"
