Lots of guys in the D3 area not having any of those issues. Most guys in this area use apd or ken jones for carbs and have 0 issues. The guys with injection have reported that they are close to .1 faster than a single carb and have 0 issues when you step off the throttle or pedal it. Jeremiah Hall | |||

Not an issue in S/C or TD as many drive the stripe like a deer in the headlights with their head fixed forward and their right foot pinned to the floor! | |||

I do think there is definitely more than one way to skin a cat! Going the N/A or baby blower route I would go aluminum block just makes it so much easier getting that weight off the car. I put a baby blower on my 540 in late 2020 and have had decent success with it both S/C (185-187 MPH) and bracket racing (4.40-4.60). I did break a rod bolt in my 540 that had been together in some configuration since 2013. I haven't seen any issues driving the stripe and have built a 582 to replace the 540. I'd say you just have to decide what you want! | |||

D3 area has more fast bracket cars, (non top dragster/sportsman) than any other place in the country. People that win in this area with blowers hardly ever leave it on the rug, and we all know it because its kinda hard to miss a belt slap with ANY kind of blower. Baby blowers are very consistent in bracket racing, the ones that have issues are prolly broke dycks that peace junk together.... Jeremiah Hall | |||

The problem with fast bracket cars is the track prep and changing conditions making it much harder to run consistently, this is a given fact,,, but curious, what do you call a fast bracket car? Big dollar eight mile racing is tough, no matter how you drive the stripe! A more consistent car has an advantage,,, doesn't me the fast car can't win though. Back to CID and NA motors. For the 615/632 and 648 SR motor combo's, the peak HP number isn't going to change a bunch, apples to apples. These motors are so under valved, meaning the motor is asking for way more air flow than the head/intake carb combo can provide which pretty much limits max peak power. The smaller motor will just make peak power higher in the rpm range than the larger ones. The larger CID motors will however make more torque and therefore more HP below peak power providing more area under the usable HP curve and therefore faster ET's/MPH result. | |||

dragsters = 4.70 or faster door cars = 4.99 or faster Depending on weather conditions will depend if my 450 car will go down a saturday night bracket track past 10 pm. I race i-57 dragway or other small local tracks several times a month when i am not super quick racing. From what i have found is, that around 70 with dew falling is the point where if i am going to get beat because of track, that is when it will happen. It is also why i carry a nitrous bottle.... Interested in how much boost you were running to achieve that mph at 8.90. And how bad are the blowers for maintenance on the rest of the engine. I’ve definitely thought about that too just weighing all the options | |||

my PAR 20 degree headed 648 the slowest to date it has run at Numidia Dragway which is 970' above sea level and the slowest track in Division 1 is 1.05 60 foot, 4.50 @ 155.42 with a 3800 DA and headwind. The fastest has been 1.02 60 foot, 4.40 @ 158.15 at 1880 lbs. on the certified scales for the LODRS event at Maple Grove. It has also run 9.92 @ 193 at Numidia and has paid for it self 3 x times over to date in just 2 seasons! This also speaks to the PAR power and consistency of the entire package, doesn't get better than this, back to back passes in 3500+DA with a track temp of 120-130 Fastest MPH to date on the stop and WOT | |||

I've been running a 35 pulley about 5lbs of boost. Really just typical alcohol engine maintenance, change the oil every 3-4 weekends. | |||
