Ran a race 2 weeks ago and went deep into rounds. Noticed trans temps about 220, whats the normal range everyone is getting? I also noticed car started to settle back a little more as it got hotter, how do you correct this?

What are you using for a trans cooler (stacked plate or tube) and cooler fan? I’ve read others on here that spray water on trans and convertor using a small pesticide sprayer to quickly cool between rounds.

I run high gear only and my temps can hit 190-200° at 100° ambient air temps starting my pass at 150-160°. That is having a stacked plate cooler with a 7" fan running on it. I do spray a little water on the converter, pan and cooler between rounds and use a fan like this as soon as I park the car. https://www.ebay.com/itm/BlueD...3:g:ibwAAOSwurZZH2jd Now the problem of the car backing up slightly I can't help with I'm a foot feeder. Check band adjustment. The other fix is to wire line lock to come on with transbrake. Some people call this a band aid but I like my car staying right where I want it, no rocking or such.

I agree and use this method. Easy to wire.

Problem with wiring in to the line lock is that I also have the burnout button hooked to the line lock and thats also connected to the 3 step. So essentially I would then be putting power to the burnout chip instead of launch rpm. This transmission is fresh so I may have to adjust the band slightly. Also what is too hot for a trans?

220-225 is pushing the limit, even w/synthetic fluid.I mounted a Koolvertor style fan on my car.7" fan mounted between back of eng. oil pan and front of trans. pan, works great, and I can flip a switch to turn on.

Adjust band or increase staging RPM. Tony Leonard

I run two b&m super coolers with a 170 oil thermostats. I am impressed on how well the thermostat works. I dont have to do anything special to warm it up, and it maintains 170 degrees very consistantly. I definitely notice a significant improvement in consistantcy that I can tie to the thermostat. Tightening the band would help. You are probably loosing some pump pressure when it gets that hot. I bet you get your temps under control, I think your issues would go away. If you are using a MSD 8737 3 step module all you need is a 3 amp rated diode to make the line lock energize when the TB button is pushed and the low launch rpm will be selected. I can post a drawing if you’d like.

My car has a 3 step a line lock and my linelock is wired to come on with my transbrake. Diodes are your friend. Draw it out on paper and you can figure out how not to backfeed.

Without the temp guage the OP won't get to the root of the problem efficiently,,,, Heat. OP, all you need is a fan blowing on the transmission cooler, it can be a fan you plug in the generator if you choose or a fan affixed to the cooler. When you feel the transmission cooler cool by laying your hand on it, start the car for three seconds. The torque converter will pump new hot oil in the cooler for you to cool in this fashion. Cool the oil in the cooler this way two or three times and your oil temp will drop 20 degrees on the guage. Lay your hand on the cooler, you'll know when to repeat the process.
