If you move a crank trigger from one side of the motor to the other does it change the timing?

As long as the trigger is over a magnet in the same rotational position, No difference.

Example. Turn crank until magnet is directly over the trigger. Now move the trigger to the opposite side of the engine and orientate it so that it is directly over a magnet. If needed remove bolts from magnet wheel to orientate properly.
