Mike FrizieAn fittings ?
what you guys like to use when you’re making an line so as to not mar te fittings? These short AN wrenches don’t give you enough leverage when they get tight.

DragRaceResultsI like a 12" crescent wrench with duct tape on the surface. I also put antiseize on the threads and vaseline on the rubber ID.
Of course Fragola is my fittings of choicee.

CURTIS REEDPretty much exactly like DRR. I have adjustable wrenches up to a 15" and have done up to 16AN that way.

Al AlguireI have not had any issues using GOOD AN wrenches to assemble fittings. Yes they get more difficult as the size goes up. But yes I have also used an adjustable with duct tape. Also I use the vice jaws designed for AN fittings.

Mike FrizieI just bought Jaws also . Just looking with more leverage to tightened the fittings down with. They get awful tight as they go down . My -12 wrench is just too short to get any real pull behind it.

Rodney PryorIf you push the hose up too far into the sleeve it will make it very hard to tighten the fitting without having a gap.

TomRI usually use the blood from my fingers to lube everything when making up steel braided lines.

Jodie JentGenerally put electrical tape on the jaws of my mill vise and clamp up the hose and end. Take a lid from a trans fluid bottle and fill trans fluid into the lid. Dip the other hose end nipple into the fluid and insert into the hose and end. 12" Crescent with electrical tape on the surface and tighten.
When cutting:
Electrical tape the hose before cutting with cutoff wheel, remove the tape, striker to burn the frayed ends, and blow out hose with compressed air.

Big SteveA little pricey but I bought this tool several years back and it helps a lot, especially with larger hoses
https://proshop.summitracing.com/parts/hse-5416-1And these magnetic vice jaws

Big SteveYes get both. The magnetic jaws are also great for holding the hose while you cut it

markemarkAgreed. The AN fitting magnetic aluminum vise jaw inserts are what I use. I’m a wimp and have all I can do to get these together. I use WD-40 for the lube.

Curly1I have one of these I got cheap and it is a big help in getting the hose into fitting with out losing blood. But then TomR will have to use some other kind of lubricant other than blood now.
