recently bought a older msd distributor and it has a orange and purple lead wire as to the newer distributors that have a green and purple wire I see it can only go in one way but was wondering if that was correct????

Can't say on that, come to think of it. ???

The ignition Green( minus) goes to distributor Violet. Ignition Violet (plus) goes to distributor Orange
