Line lock ?

Just replaced the line lock on the car. Same type and style as the old one that had stopped activating. Bled the brakes,they work but brakes won’t hold when you engage the line lock. I can hear the ll clock sounds like it activates but still won’t hold. I checked and it is plumbed correct. At least according to the way it is marked. Any help?

Does that mean it does hold pressure but doesn't hold the car under load? Do you have a brake pressure gauge to assure you're applying sufficient pressure from the master cylinder? Could be as simple as scuffing up you pads and rotors.

Car stops just like it should. When I press the brakes the car holds still. If I engage the ll and let off brake pedal the car will roll.

The old line lock, the solonoid stopped working. I couldn’t hear it click and car would roll unless I held the brakes. This occurred last race. Cars brakes have been flawless up to then. Like I said car stops fine and can drag brakes to kill et fine just started to roll when doing a burnout.

What brand of linelock? You say it's marked so it's installed correctly? Have you tried a new ground, poor ground ight allow it to click but not fully apply.

New lock was marked m/c on one end brk on the other. Master cylinder to the m/c side. Is a biondo unit I got from summit. It appears identical to old one, even the same color. Will look at the wires again. When the new lock engages the click noise is very faint. The old lock was much louder and more defined when engaged.

After you engage the Line Lock, are you depressing the brake pedal several times to build up pressure??

It doesn't work like that with all LL's as I found when I installed a Moroso.

Every LL I have ever had requires you to build pressure, THEN engage the LL.

Ok update. The problem turns out to be the switch in the shifter. Somehow it has changed itself from normally open to normally closed. What happened was when I pushed the button I killed power to the ll instead of applying power. I found it because I hit brakes without pushing button and front brakes wouldn’t release. Pushed button brakes released. Weird but true. Replace the switch and all works as it is supposed to. Btw the biondo lock I have required you to hold brake then press switch. If you press switch first it blocks front brakes so they won’t apply.

I have Hurst LL solenoid. Depress brake pedal and then activate line lock. Then apply brake pedal again to build pressure with line lock activated……. States this right in instructions. I generally pump brakes 2x after activating LL for burnouts.

^^^^ exactly the same for mine and it's not a Hurst.

I would recommend pulling each new linelock aparts and inspecting and cleaning.


Meziere Tech.
Make sure your water pump is on whenever you check your coolant level.
