As an experiment, I bought a new MSD #8992 timing light. The good news is that it is much, much brighter than the 40-year-old model. With the old model, the marks were not visible in direct sunlight. The new model shows the marks easily visible in direct sun. My take is that the performance of the old light did, in fact, degrade over time. Larry Woodfin

Thank you for the update, Larry. I was considering buying one of those, and your info is what I was hoping to hear. Dan "Jim" Moore Much too young to feel this damn old!!

I'm pretty sure that I remember those old school strobe lamps being a gas charged kind of deal, and I'd guess it would degrade much like a fluorescent tube does. "Despite the high cost of living, it remains popular." Dave Cook N375

Are there any out there that use a LED light source in them? ____________________________ 2017 and 2018 Osage Casinos Tulsa Raceway Park No-Box Champion 2018 Div4 Goodguys Hammer award winner
