Carb size for a 598
598 Profiler 12* motor
2020 lbs dragster
Shift at 7400
430 gears
Big bubbas
What CFM carb would work best for 1/8th mile racing
Currently running Alky Terminator and been a best of 4.54. Wondering if a gas carb might work better.
Thanks in advance

Got a 598 SR20

Multiple carbs will work on it, but a smaller carb will be more consistent typically (less sensitive to air changes)

I was told I could go from 1050-1700

Was ultimately between a 1250 and a 1450 and settled on a 1250

Was between APD and TMC and went APD

Other 2 builders I would consider are Gary Williams or Bob book

Define “better”……… what’s wrong with the present mfi?

Reading your stuff more

Yes, a gas carb will run faster on your setup unless your setup was specifically built to run alcohol

If looking for ET, book would be my first call

1450 Will bracket race better than the 2.5" throttle bore carbs, on gas that is.

A dyno sheet for your 598 would help.

What and where was the peek HP reading and what was the peek torque reading.

Have to agree, most consistent combos ever on pump E85! Twin 750, 1000 (act flow 870), 950 and 1050.

^^^You might be suprised to find that retarding the cam back to 115, on ALKY, might be the et you are looking for. It wont be .1, but it could very well be a solid .5. That cam is gonna build some cylinder pressure with what you have, and alky doesnt need that kind of cylinder pressure.
