Mickey Thompson made a 14/31 and a 14/32 Pro Bracket Radial a few years back. I'd try those they didn't seem that expensive 5 years ago. That's the only one way to figure it out. From my experience in a door car (3200 lbs - 5.50's - 598 - PG), when a radial loses traction, it completely loses traction. I had a trouble on hot nasty tracks during the summer. Spring/Fall/Winter they were awesome, better than bias by far. Like others have stated, if you stretch the limit on the tire it becomes a liability, bias tires will deal with tire spin to some degree where my radials would smoke the tires or go into serious tire shake that felt like the ring and pinon broke.... They were dead hooked or i had to abort the run. I didn't have that trouble when the car was a little slower with a little less power 5.90 to 5.80 range same car 3270 lbs, it was deadly, seemed i could race it on dirt if i wanted to and it would still hook, but when i upped the power and dropped a little weight off the nose it started with the spinning on the radial. The radials were a solid tenth and a half faster than the bias and repeated their butts off and very consistent reaction times.

I ran Hoosier (18245) from 2012 – 2019 and then switched to MT (3074S) in the same size when I got bead locks. Last month I went back to Hoosier (18235) because the MT weren’t available for over two months. I purchased a slightly different size (1” less RO than MT) also. The Hoosiers are different in what they want for a BO and launch rpm compared to the MT on my door car. It took some changing to get the car consistency back to were I left off with the MT. They look to be slightly better in repeating 60’ times than the MT right now. I’m racing the next three days in mid 90* sunny weather, so this will be a good test for me. The MT were always excellent in the very hot weather. The point I’m making, is that changing things up might produce better results than what you are presently experiencing. Using a MT 3074 (non-stiff wall) would be compatible with the 18250 Hoosier although slightly less RO. Because this is a very popular tire, if you decided you disliked them and needed to go back, it’d probably be easy to sell off quickly at a reduced loss.
