I would like to have a cap to go in place of an oil filter. I run 6 converter bolts which take approximately 7 minutes to install without an oil filter and about 45 minutes plus taking a few month off my lifespan when the oil filter is on. The problem with just taking the oil filter off is that I need to lay directly under that area and if the engine has been run recently it will drop hot oil in my eyes the whole time. I’ll probably try to make something out of an old oil filter but thought maybe I’d splurge I’d something I’d available.

Looks like that would work, thanks!

Just have to remember to put the filter back on when I’m done

"Dunning-Kruger Effect"
-a type of Cognitive bias where people with little expertise or ability assume they have superior expertise or ability. This overestimation occurs as a result of the fact that they do not have enough knowledge to know they don't have enough knowledge.

Before you argue with someone ask yourself, "Is this person mentally mature enough to grasp the concept of a different perspective?" If not there is no point to argue.

On a good year, maybe once or twice. I’d hate to think what my record is. At one point this combo would rattle them loose every pass. I would tighten them between rounds and replace them between races. Thankfully that hasn’t happened recently but I also havent leaned on it in awhile.

Just for the record, the link from 124x was exactly what I was looking for, the rest require removing the oil filter adapter. That’s not a terrible option but not exactly what I wanted.

I’d live to hear best practices to make trans changes….mainly converter bolts quicker. I have six on one of the cars and it is about the longest length item

BJ ever thought about relocating the oil filter to the front or somewhere out of the way. Man I rarely change converters but thinking about what you said that its way easier to get to from the filter side if its removed makes me want to relocate the filter just because.....

Would using a shorty filter as a tool do the job?

That’s a good thought too. Although I have enough trouble keeping fluids where they belong, kinda hate to add another failure point, lol.

Dave, I hadn’t thought of that. I’ll have to track one down and try it out but it sure is nice having that whole window open.
