Shiftnoid solenoid
I have a B&M Pro Bandit shifter on one of my cars with e Shiftnoid solenoid. This one has good wiring and grounds yet does not always work as it is supposed to. Sometimes it hits hard and shifts most times it just makes a click and pushes it a little. Shifter works smooth by hand no binding etc. Wire and relays are more than large enough and power supply is good.

Anyone have that problem with the Shiftnoid solenoids?

Is there any better shift solenoid than the Shifnoid?

Sound like just a bad or worn out solenoid?

Thanks in advance.

Heat related? Random?

What component are you using to trigger / activate the shift relay ?

Bought the car earlier and tested it a few times would not shift on the track.
I have rewired the car with K&R wiring kit. I ran it off the electric Shifter terminal that has two 30 amp relays and very large with to activate. Gets its signal from 7Al-3 and it is getting the signal. I also hooked it up to be activated by button on steering wheel with same results. It appears to me to be narrowed down to the solenoid.
Not sure how durable they are or if anyone else has had issues with those?
I have spent a lot of money on this car and it is coming together nicely. I do not mind buying a new solenoid just wondering if anyone has had trouble with those and I should get different Brand or style?

Do not think it is heat related, it does it with the MSD ignition tester as well.

Solenoid looks to be internally grounded.

Meter in ohms from the shift output terminal on K&R to the outer housing of the Solenoid.

Keeping the lead on the shift output terminal, move the other lead to any good ground….. even to the ground on the relay board.

What are the readings??

I never used an electric shifter.

I did have a problem with my air shifter though. The shifter felt fine going through the gates by manual activation but failed to shift with the air before.

l took the shifter apart, cleaned, polished and lubed, worked like new.

I'd also check the cable for bind and ensure the solenoid is hitting at the correct spot(ratio,center,..)

Cool

Every K&R relay board I have always wired a relay for the shifter because the the shift output is only 10amps. Not saying they are all like that but the ones I’ve wired have been. Good luck!

Check it and contact Shifnoid at Contender Performance http://www.contenderperformance.com/
They will help you any way they can. I've had nothing but positive results whenever I've contacted them. The tech guy will ask you every question about how you troubleshot it and he will stay on the phone with you while you check it.

I run the Bandit shifter also with the shiftnoid.
After fighting issues. "Will it work today"??

Pulled the 1000 series box out and went strictly
with the Elite RPM Switch. Like a charm....

the TRUTH and the FACTS^^^ and it belongs in the garbage but if I stated that first, several here would be calling me names starting with the OP.

Dixie is the go to shift solenoid and what Biondo sells.

in-service for 7 seasons until last June when I swapped it out for a black Dixie/Biondo solenoid. Now it's my spare.

Just buy a new solenoid from Biondo. It's not very much money and not worth the aggravation or lost races because you didnt by trying to save a nickle.

Similar, this is the one I have but it mounts directly to shifter. Has single power terminal.
